JLPT 2026 – Registration Information
Registration for JLPT 2026 will open on 1 March 2026 at 13:00.
The application period will be from March 1 (13:00) to March 22.
However, since each test level has a limited number of seats, applicants may be placed on a waiting list once the capacity is reached.
If we receive an excessive number of applications, the application form may close earlier.
The application process
The application form will be visible on this page.
The application process is as follows.
- Applicants will fill out the application form (Google Form) online and upload a photo that meets the requirements (please read the information under “Photo”).
- Once the submitted photo has been checked, bank payment information will be sent by email.
- Applicants who submit the form after the capacity has been reached will be placed on a waiting list.
- Payment must be completed within four days in order to secure a seat.
- If payment is not completed within four days, the next person on the waiting list will be contacted.
Spots have been filling up very quickly in previous years, so if you are interested, please apply as soon as registration opens. To secure your spot, you will need to complete the payment of the test fee promptly, or you will lose your spot.
Information
JLPT will be held at Stockholm University on July 6, 2025.

Test Vouchers
We expect to be sending digital test vouchers to the examinees late May or at the latest early June.

The test application form will be open from March 1 to March 22.
If the number of applications exceeds the available test slots, we may close the application form earlier.
If your application form is submitted after the maximum number of test takers for the level has been reached, you will be placed on the waiting list.

Photo
It is important that you attach an approved photo when applying for the JLPT. It should be the same kind of photo as on a passport, see example below:

Make sure to attach an approved photo in tandem with your application, as an unapproved photo will otherwise delay the processing of your application. Please also see the information below:
Acceptable photos
- The photo must be submitted in a single copy and should be a good likeness.
- The face should be depicted straight on with the entire face visible.
- Both eyes should be fully visible, and the pupils should be clearly seen. The gaze should be directed towards the camera.
- The photograph should be sharp. The focus should be on the pupils. Reflections should not be visible.
- You should not wear dark or colored glasses.
- You should not wear any headgear or similar. Religious headgear is accepted, but the entire face must be clearly visible.
- The face should be evenly lit, and the background should be light without shadows.
- The entire head should be visible, not just the face.
- Both black and white photos and color photos are accepted.
- It should be taken against a white/light neutral background.
- The face should occupy at least 70% of the photo.
Unacceptable photos
- Photos larger or smaller than 3-4 cm x 3 cm
- Not taken against a solid background (with buildings and people etc. in the background)
- Blurred photos (too dark)
- Your eyes are closed
- You are waring a hat, sunglasses, facemask or covering your face in any other way
- Your hands are in the photo
- Other people are in the photo
- Your face is too small or too big in relation to the photo size
- A photo of a photo
- You’re not facing forward
- You’re not looking into the camera
